Albany Air Conditioning and Heating Company, Inc. has proudly served Albany and Southwest Georgia since 1949. What began as a small, family-run operation that has grown into one of the most respected HVAC companies in the region—built on integrity, hard work, and a genuine commitment to customers.
In 1949, Edward C. Newsome left his position at Mingledorff’s to pursue a vision of providing dependable, honest heating and cooling services to his community. He opened Albany Air Conditioning and Heating Company on Roosevelt Avenue, with the support and dedication of his wife, Wildred Newsome. Together, they built a company rooted in trust, personal relationships, and quality workmanship—values that remain at the core of Albany Air today.
As demand grew, so did the company. Albany Air expanded its facilities and workforce, first moving to Broad Avenue and later establishing its long-term home on West Gordon Avenue in 1973. May of 1977 Edward C. Newsome Jr. returned home after college to work alongside his father marking the beginning of us becoming a true family-run business. In 1990, Ed Jr. purchased the company, continuing the family tradition while guiding Albany Air through decades of growth and change.
Under Ed Jr.’s leadership, Albany Air expanded its reach across Southwest Georgia, growing to a team of more than 50 dedicated employees who install and service thousands of residential and commercial HVAC systems. In 2008, the third generation joined the business when Edward “Clint” Newsome III became Vice President, overseeing project management and business operations—ensuring the company continues to evolve while honoring its roots. Clint became President of the business in 2016 and purchased the company in 2021. Under Clint’s leadership Albany Air has over 100 employees and continues to grow and establish itself as the leader in the Air Conditioning and Heating market for Southwest Georgia.
Today, Albany Air is proud to be the oldest Air Conditioning and Heating contractor in Albany and one of the longest-standing Carrier dealers in the state. As a Carrier Factory Authorized Dealer, our technicians are factory-trained and authorized to install and service industry-leading systems with precision and care.
While technology and equipment have advanced over the decades, our priorities have not changed. Albany Air remains a family-owned business that puts customers first, values community involvement, and believes in continuous education for both leadership and technicians. Our reputation has been built through referrals, longterm customer relationships, and a consistent commitment to doing the job right.
